So, it stands to reason that I also have an interest in genealogy. Over the last few years, I have been tracking my genealogy through Ancestry.com. For those of you who don’t know, I am from Puerto Rico. And for a time, I was only able to trace my genealogy back to 1910 because that was the first U.S. Census that was taken in Puerto Rico. Original data: Extranjeros in Puerto Rico, 1815-1845.Records of the Spanish Governors of Puerto Rico, RG 186. (Series T1170, 19 rolls) The National Archives and Records Administration, Washington, DC. Births, marriages, deaths, indexes and other records created by civil registration offices in Puerto Rico. Some records may date prior to 1885 as a few municipalities began civil registration before that date.
